Jesus’ redemptive work in this world is finished; He said so on the cross.  His resurrection sealed the deal.  Of course we still wait for the last day and the resurrection of all flesh and life in the world to come.  But now it is time for us to be at work.  We are the body of Christ now on this earth.  We are where people find God.  Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and our hearts are the Holy of Holies where Christ dwells in us.
It is time that we walk in the light of His Resurrection and be the light for this lost world.  We have work to do.  The work of Christ.  And we need to get busy doing it.  We are new creations because of Jesus’ death and resurrection.  We have been given pure hearts where He Himself resides, and has written His laws. For us as Christians, to “walk in the light” as John speaks of in his first letter, is to walk in obedience via our new creation, and at the same time, because we are still sinners, to walk in ongoing confession.
