The King James Version of the Holy Bible renders 1 John 3:6 “Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known Him.” Wow! Strong words! But if true, doesn’t that mean none of us truly abide in Him?
Perhaps other translations have it right, for instance, the English Standard Version of the same verse reads: “No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen Him, or known Him.”
Ah, now we can breathe easy. John really didn’t mean that God couldn’t abide ANY SIN, just persistent sin. Let’s teach this instead. This translation is much easier to stomach. It allows me to be a Christian and still sin, just as long as is it’s not too much, I guess…
There is just one small problem with this convenient translation.

The TRUTH IS: That which is born of God DOES NOT SIN! Period!
